Over 100 P&O Cruises outbreak guests demand compensation
P&O Cruises is facing potential legal action over a shipboard outbreak which affected more than 100 guests.
Compensation claims for 115 passengers have been filed over ‘repeated outbreaks onboard’ P&O Cruises’ Ventura over several weeks in early summer.
The claims are being handled by London-based Hudgell Solicitors.
The cruise line was accused of releasing misleading information when it was revealed over 500 passengers were affected in total.
Anne Thomson of Hudgell Solicitors, said: “This legal action should come as no surprise to (parent) Carnival as the problems with illness outbreaks on the Ventura over the past year have been well documented. They are undeniable.”
“Illness was rife on board during many cruises, ruining hundreds of holidays.”
“Here we had a situation where it happened on consecutive sailings over a number of months.”
The claims have been submitted to Carnival Corp seeking compensation for illness, loss of amenities due and loss of enjoyment.
It says the company has been given six weeks to acknowledge the claims, and a further six months to investigate them.
A P&O Cruises said it will be ‘responding to the letter of claim in due course.’
