Peregrine’s New Ways to See Old Europe
Peregrine has introduced new destinations including Romania, Corsica, and the Italian region of Abruzzo into the ever-expanding range of quality small-group guided tours, featured in the new Peregrine Europe 2007-8 brochure.
The new eight-day Corsican Trails adventure explores this beautiful and mountainous French island on foot. The birthplace of Napoleon Bonaparte, Corsica shows strong Italian influence in its food and architecture. There are daily hikes of around six or seven hours to immerse travellers in the best of the unspoilt mountain, valley and gorge scenery, staying in villages where travellers are made to feel like guests, rather than tourists.
Beginning and ending in the charming port town of Bastia, the trip also explores the mountain hamlets of Vizzavona and Vivario, and ambles along the many trails and shepherd’s paths that criss-cross the island. For a stunning contrast, the trip also visits coastal villages like Poggio de Venaco, where stone houses cling to rock cliffs above the sea.
Corsican Trails has departures beginning in Bastia from May to September 2007, with prices starting at $2,390 per person twin share, including an experienced tour leader and local guide, transfers, accommodation, most meals and sightseeing and entrance fees.
The eight-day Dalmatian Coastal Explorer is a new way to experience the well-loved destination of Croatia. Beginning in the heritage city of Split and ending in Dubrovnik, the trip involves walking, canoeing, cycling and boat trips to explore the historic islands of Brac, Hvar, Mljet and Lokrum, with their narrow cobblestone streets, charming piazzas, Gothic churches and monasteries.
Cycling through small villages, vineyards and olive groves will help work off the culinary delights and offer more opportunities to experience the charm of the region. Peregrine’s local leaders reveal an insider’s perspective on the area’s rich history – and know where to find the best seafood and remote beaches along the coast of the dazzling Adriatic Sea.
The Dalmatian Coastal Explorer has departures from Split between April and October 2007. Prices start at $2,390 per person twin share and include an experienced local tour leader and guide, transport, sightseeing, accommodation and most meals.
