Pressure mounts to extend state support for ailing businesses

Pressure is growing on Chancellor Rishi Sunak to extend the furlough scheme beyond the end of October as the UK economy continues to flounder.

An influential group of MPs said viable businesses will go to the wall unless they continue to receive state support.
