Priceline.com names new CEO
Priceline Group Inc has appointed Paul J. Hennessy as new CEO of Priceline.com.
Current CEO Chris Soder will take over the position of chairman, the company said.
Hennessy has been chief marketing officer of its top performing Booking.com brand since 2011.
He will start in the new position on April 1 and report to Darren Huston, Priceline Group’s president and CEO.
"His experience will help guide Priceline.com in its next chapter as a leader in delivering the best online travel deals for consumers," Huston said in a statement.
Priceline is the largest online travel-booking company but a number of high profile acquisitions by rival Expedia is closing the gap.
Priceline has also been quietly expanding its portfolio, including the purchase of restaurant-reservation service OpenTable last year.
