Prince Harry lands in the US with a busy agenda

Monday, 13 May, 2013 0

Britain’s Prince Harry is in the US this week, determined to regain a regal image after a game of strip billiards in Vegas marred his trip last year.

Royal watchers can catch a glimpse of him at Arlington Cemetery, where he will visit the graves of soldiers killed in Afghanistan and Iraq; at the Superstorm-Sandy-ravaged Jersey shore; in Manhattan; and at the Warrior Games in Colorado.

In New Jersey, Gov. Chris Christie, who has announced he had lap-band surgery to help with his weight problem, promised, "I’m going to be spending the entire day with Prince Harry, and believe me, nobody is going to get naked."

The prince will be in New Jersey on Tuesday, visiting Mantoloking, the hardest-hit town on the shoreline.

Every one of its 521 houses was damaged or destroyed, as the storm cut a new channel through the town from the Atlantic Ocean on one side to Barnegat Bay on the other.

In Washington, the prince will visit an exhibition on land mine clearance, a cause dear to his late mother, Princess Diana, and the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

In Colorado Springs, he will attend the 2013 Warrior Games, where about 260 wounded and injured service members from the US and the UK will compete.

His attendance will have a "strong central theme of supporting injured servicemen and women from both the UK and US armed forces," a press release said.

In New York City, he will attend an event promoting a community baseball program involving a new partnership with the Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry.
