Qantas and Malaysia Airlines abandon plans for Asian premium airline

Talks have broken down between Qantas and Malaysia Airlines over plans to set up a premium regional airline in Asia.

Qantas shares fell 4% in Sydney after it announced the two companies could not agree on commercial terms.

The airline said it would continue to explore opportunities in Asia through alliances and joint ventures.

Meanwhile, Malaysia Airlines has announced a soft launch of its own premium airline next month.
