Boosted by the strong US dollar, more Americans traveled overseas than ever before during 2015.
The National Travel & Tourism Office says 73.4 million US citizens traveled abroad, up 7.7% on the previous year.
More than half (55%) stayed close to home with trips to either Canada or Mexico.
Europe travel grew 5.9% for a 17% share of total overseas visits, while the Caribbean and Asia also recorded growth of more than 6%.
The biggest growth of all came in the Middle East which rose by 14.9% to more than two million travelers.
The only region which posted a reverse was Africa, likely impacted by the Ebola outbreaks.
