Regent looking at global expansion

Wednesday, 20 Mar, 2006 0

The New York City-based Regent is adding nine hotels over the next two years to its existing portfolio, including four hotels under construction in the US  —  three in Florida and one in Boston.

“Global development for Regent is at an all-time high,” the company said.

“The global effort came now mainly because it’s a re-birth of the brand. The name was purchased by Carlson, so with this we’re making a new luxury brand to include ships, resorts and residences,” said a spokesman.

Recent is doing three hotels in Asia, as well as new properties in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

The Regent South Beach in Miami is due to open this summer. The 80-suite luxury hotel will have views of the ocean.
