Romania low-cost carrier Animawings to launch 7 new routes in Europe

Romanian full-service airline, Animawings is set to expand its European network in late spring and during summer 2026. The first route is due to start by the end of May while the launch of the six other new routes are scheduled for July and August. All the flights will be operated by Airbus A220-300 aircraft.

In a separate schedule update, Animawings has revised the launch date of its Bucharest–Milan Malpensa service. Initially planned for May 11, 2026, the route will now commence on May 29, 2026. The service will operate three times weekly.

From Bucharest, Animawings will introduce twice-weekly service to Rotterdam starting July 13, followed by Strasbourg from August 17, also operating twice weekly. These routes enhance access to important business and cultural hubs in Western Europe.

Cluj-Napoca in Transylvania will see two new connections launching on July 17, with twice-weekly flights to both Frankfurt and Vienna. These routes are expected to appeal to both business and leisure travelers, linking one of Romania’s fastest-growing cities with major European economic centers.

Meanwhile, Timisoara will gain two new routes beginning July 15, with twice-weekly service to Copenhagen and Rotterdam. These additions further diversify travel options from western Romania and improve access to Northern and Western Europe.

Earlier in the year, Animawings also launched year-round routes from Cluj and Timisoara to Athens. Both cities are linked to the Greek capital city since April 5, each with two weekly frequencies.

Overall, these network developments highlight Animawings’ continued growth and commitment to expanding its footprint across Europe. The additions reflect the carrier’s ongoing strategy to strengthen connectivity between Romania and key European cities while offering efficient, modern narrow-body service.
