Royal Caribbean axes all Russia port calls
Cruise operator Royal Caribbean Group joined other lines by suspending calls to Russian ports.
Royal Caribbean International postponed calls to St. Petersburg throughout the summer while sister brand Celebrity Cruises said it was dropping St. Petersburg from itineraries.
Celebrity will instead make additional calls in Scandinavia.
Silversea Cruises is also re-routing summer itineraries to avoid stops in Russia and Ukraine.
Other lines including MSC Cruises, Viking and NCLH and Carnival brands have also announced similar changes.
“With the recent events, we have made the decision to cancel our visits to St Petersburg, Russia, on all summer 2022 itineraries. We have planned alternative ports and will communicate itinerary changes in the next few days to our guests and travel partners,” Royal Caribbean Group said.
The stock prices of Royal Caribbean, Carnival Corp, and Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings all dipped significantly as cruise lines began suspending Russian port calls.
“In light of the recent attacks by Russia in Ukraine, Carnival Corporation brands will be modifying our itineraries in the coming week once alternative ports can be confirmed. We stand for peace, ”Carnival tweeted last week.
