Going on safari? In Mexico?

Eecotour provider Natural Habitat Adventures suggests setting your safari sights on Mexico, where favorable exchange rates and some reduced airfare deals help boost the value.

“Mexico has an amazing range of wildlife, including some unique opportunities with rare and endangered species,” said Natural Habitat Adventures founder and director Ben Bressler. He added:

“And look for added value from your travel company. For instance at Natural Habitat Adventures, we’ve already paid to carbon-offset your trip, our guides receive special conservation training from World Wildlife Fund, and we search out unique accommodations that offer a more authentic connection with the culture you’re visiting.”

Mr Bressler’s best-value wildlife picks include four 6-day small-group adventures for under $3,000 and offer a date range from August 2008 through August 2009.

Activities range from sea turtle watching in Oaxacan to looking for Mexico’s Monarch butterflies in the Transvolcanic Mountains via hiking and horseback riding. There are also whales in Baja and whale sharks at the Crococun Zoo.

Prices vary, starting at $2,195.
