San Antonio City Tours Inc, which operates airport shuttles and trolley bus tours, has filed for bankruptcy.
The operator filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection after learning its contract to run the San Antonio Super Shuttle airport ride would be terminated.
The city said it was in contract default after missing a payment last month, according to City Tours’ president, Edward Torres.
He also blamed the effect of ongoing construction at San Antonio International Airport and the presence of ride hailing services Uber and Lyft in the San Antonio market.
"Having that happen, and with the lost revenues, it has unfortunately put us in a position where it’s affected all of my businesses and we were left with no choice but to file for some protection under Chapter 11," Torres said.
The company has been operating for 30 years and also runs Grand Trolley Tours and charter bus tours to nearby wineries.
Creditors owed six-figure amounts by the company include the IRS and Bexar County property tax collection.
