Luxury travel operator Scott Dunn will stop selling tours and packages involving camel rides.
It says it’s the first travel company to end tours using camels.
It comes after PETA recently highlighted the conditions camels face in Egypt in the tourism industry.
PETA says they are restrained, beaten, and abused in other ways.
Scott Dunn also has a policy of not promoting marine parks with whales and dolphins, or elephant rides.
“In line with our Responsible Travel policy we have suspended the promotion and sale of all camel rides in Egypt,” says Global Sales and Product Director Simon Lynch said.
PETA Asia eyewitnesses at tourist sites in Egypt, including the Great Pyramid of Giza, saw camels being beaten before being sold to the tourism industry.
Used for rides in the heat, they were denied access to food, water, and shade, PETA claims.
PETA also found abuses in Jordan.
It urges tourists to avoid such activities.
