Seabourn takes delivery of new luxury ship

Sunday, 01 Dec, 2016 0
Seabourn has taken delivery of its newest all-suite vessel in a handover at Italy’s Fincantieri shipyard.

Seabourn Encore is Fincantieri’s first for Seabourn and the shipbuilder begins work on the second in a few days, it said.

The 600-passenger Encore is due to be christened in early January in Singapore by British diva Sarah Brightman.

It will then set sail on its inaugural cruise to Indonesia and then various itineraries from Australia and New Zealand.

The ship will then offer Mediterranean sailings through mid-September 2017.

"We have been looking forward to this day for over two years. Seabourn Encore has become a stunning ship that will set a new standard in ultra-luxury cruising. I am very proud of our partnership with Fincantieri, and it has been a great pleasure to work together to transform raw materials into this incredible vessel that will make a great addition to the Seabourn fleet," said Seaborne president Richard Meadows.

The ship is essentially an expanded version of the line’s Odyssey Class ships and its 300 suites all have private verandas.

It has been designed by noted hospitality designer Adam Tihany and features The Retreat with private cabanas including a Spa Treatment Cabana for personalized spa treatments.

"The jewel we deliver today is the first built for Seabourn, and dry dock works for the second vessel of this new and prestigious client will start in the next few days in our shipyard in Sestri Ponente," said Giuseppe Bono, CEO of Fincantieri.
