A Seattle ‘duck tour’ bus company involve in a deadly crash September is relaunching operations today.
Ride the Ducks spokesman Mark Firmani said the first few tours are already sold out.
The company’s operations were suspended by National Transportation Safety Board days after the September 24 crash killed five college students and injured dozens more.
The duck tour vehicle swerved into a college bus on Seattle’s Aurora Bridge due to a defective axle, the NTSB said.
The state transport commission found hundreds of violations at the company, but the vast majority were related to record-keeping.
The company was ordered to submit a safety plan before the end of January which has now been approved.
As part of the safety plan Ride the Ducks Seattle must employ a separate tour guide on each vehicle, allowing the driver to concentrate on road safety.
"Our team has been working hard to prepare for our re-launch, and on behalf of more than 130 employees, we are thankful to be back on the road again," said Brian Tracey, president of Ride the Ducks Seattle.
"We love being a part of this local community and are thrilled to get back to what we do best – welcoming locals and tourists on board to show off this great city."
