Sebel switch, Metro makeover in Melbourne
Melbourne’s hotel offerings have lifted another notch with one property changing its name and another re-opening after an extensive refurbishment.
Accor Vacation Club’s apartment hotel in Flinders Lane is now The Sebel Melbourne Flinders Lane.
Two years ago the hotel – once the haunt of the stars of music, stage and screen due to its proximity to the Art Centre, concert halls and theatres – underwent a A$4.3 million makeover of suites and public areas.
Staff at The Sebel are now dressed in new uniforms designed by David Lawrence, Country Road and Sportscraft.
The building, which is located at 321 Flinders Lane, was built in 1921 on the former Dr. Jaeger’s Sanitary Woollen System Co. Ltd site, the company later evolving in to the internationally renowned Jaeger fashion house.
Meanwhile, Metro Hospitality Group has completed major renovations to its boutique Melbourne property, Metro Apartments Bank Place, including the installation of new kitchens and bathrooms in all apartments as well as new lighting, carpeting and furnishings.
