Shangri-La unveils Hambantota Resort in Sri Lanka
Shangri-La has officially launched in Sri Lanka with the opening of the luxury Hambantota Resort & Spa.
The resort was opened by Sri Lanka President His Excellency Maithripala Sirisena, and features 300 rooms on 145-acre former coconut plantation on the southern coastline.
Hambantota Resort & Spa is the first of two planned properties for Sri lanka and the third in the Indian Ocean.
It is also the country’s first integrated golf resort hotel with a 18-hole championship course designed by Rodney Wright.
Shangri-La’s Golf and Country Club is slated to open in mid-June.
"We are excited to unveil the first of two Shangri-La hotels in Sri Lanka and to add a third Indian Ocean resort to the Group’s portfolio," said Shangri-La president and CEO Greg Dogan.
"This stunning resort is the perfect backdrop for guests to experience the incredible beauty, culture and warmth of Sri Lanka."
Guestrooms start at a generous 48 square metres up to 240 square-metre suites.
The resort also houses a luxury spa, three salt-water swimming pools, a health club, restaurants and the ‘Cool Zone’ kid’s club.
Shangri-La’s Hambantota Resort & Spa is celebrating the opening with introductory all-inclusive packages starting at US$247 per night until 22 December 2016.
