Singapore Airlines is postponing five weekly flights on its Jakarta route from next month due to runway maintenance work required at the city’s Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.
Flights SQ962 and SQ963 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays will be postponed from 1 December 2016 following a formal request by the Indonesia aviation authorities.
The Singapore-Jakarta route is one of SIA’s busiest and currently operates more than 60 flights a week.
Singapore Airlines said that it will contact customers with bookings on affected flights to accommodate them on other flights.
SIA was recently forced to push back the start of a new Singapore-Jakarta-Sydney service for the same reason.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) said: "CAAS hopes the runway maintenance works will be completed expeditiously and that the impact on airlines will be fairly distributed," a spokesman said.
Indonesia’s state run airport operator Angkasa Pura II said the works will take approximately 15 months to complete.
