Monday, 11 May 20153 min read

A man has been killed by a bull shark while snorkelling with his wife off the Pacific Ocean island of Kouare, New Caledonia.

French national Yves Berthelot was bitten several times while on a cruise with friends.

He was swimming just metres from the boat when he was attacked.

His friends, mostly health professionals, pulled him from the water and tried to revive him, but he died at the scene.

Sky News reported a local police spokesman as saying it was a ‘really savage and sudden attack’.
