A power outage which briefly grounded a flight at Buffalo Niagara International Airport on Friday was blamed on a rather surprising source.
The hour-long outage was traced back to a mischievous squirrel.
The squirrel managed to find its way into a substation in Cheektowaga which blacked out part of the airport terminal and traffic signals in the area causing chaos on the roads during rush hour.
The outage affected gates 15-26 at the airport, according to Buffalo News, which also said the squirrel was unfortunately electrocuted.
Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority spokesman Doug Hartmayer said in an email one flight was slightly delayed.
It also affected about two dozen homes in the area which remained without power for about two hours.
