STB targeting mobile-savvy Chinese market

The Singapore Tourism Board is rolling out more digital and mobile services targeted at the increasingly connected Chinese traveller.
It includes YourSingapore WeChat and Baidu Connect services which offers real-time location-based content to better navigate Singapore’s tourist attractions and amenities.
"We have seen more Chinese FIT or free-and-easy visitors in Singapore in recent years. Besides the need for comprehensive information for trip planning, they also desire real-time useful tips, navigation, payment and translation tools to explore a destination independently," said Edward Chew , the STB’s regional director for Greater China.
STB has also signed agreements with online travel companies Alitrip and Tuniu, and crowd sourced review sites Dianping and Mafengwo.
Each of these companies will publish content about Singapore’s attractions.
The aim is to better engage Chinese travellers to experience more of Singapore and share these experiences on digital platforms.
Mainland China is Singapore’s second largest market and welcomed 1.7 million Chinese tourists in 2014.
