Sun Country launching 16 new routes

Sun Country Airlines is planning an ambitious network expansion of 16 new routes, despite the pandemic-fuelled downturn in travel.

Minneapolis based Sun Country will add nine new cities to its network with the expansion.

Most routes are out of main hub Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport and start operating from early May.

It kicks off on 6 May with summer flights to John Wayne Orange County, California, and includes flights to Fairbanks, Alaska, Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Indianapolis, Houston and Raleigh-Durham, NC.

"The past year has been a challenge for the travel industry but with increased access to Covid-19 tests and vaccinations, we’re starting to see that turnaround," Sun Country’s CEO Jude Bricker said.

The airline also announced twice-weekly Houston-Cancun and San Antonio-Cancun flights and service from Dallas Fort Worth to Puerto Vallarta.

Other routes announced include Orlando departures to Indianapolis and Hartford, CT.
