Survey: business cutbacks permanent

Monday, 21 Oct, 2004 0

Cutbacks in business travel are here to say, say respondents to the 2004 US Business Travel Survey.

The Survey prepared by the Business Travel Coalition found an overwhelming number, 94%, thought the cutbacks are permanent.

Fifty-two percent predicted that air transportation budgets would be flat, or lower than 2004.

Other findings:

• Average one-way airfares fell 30% from 2000 to 2004.

• Seventy percent of respondents predicted increased use of low-fare airlines in 2005.

• Another 72% predicted increased use of technological alternatives to air travel.

The survey involved 112 diverse corporations, according to the Coalition.
