Passengers are most likely to get free upgrades if they fly with British Airways, according to a survey by Skyscanner.net.

A poll of over 1,000 travellers found that 36% had been given a free upgrade.

Of those, 42% of these were flying with BA, 17% with Virgin Atlantic, 8% with American Airlines, 6% with BMI and 5% with Lufthansa.

Iberia ranked the lowest with just 1% being upgraded on the Spanish airline.
