Tata plans to bring AirAsia under Air India umbrella
Tata Sons will bring AirAsia India under the Air India umbrella if its bid for the national carrier succeeds. It also plans to integrate full service carrier Vistara into Air India at a later date subject to discussions with co-owner Singapore Airlines. SIA owns 49% of Vistara.
Tata Sons has an agreed option to buy the remaining stake it doesn’t yet own in AirAsia India. Tata Sons is the front-runner to buy the debt-ridden Air India from the government.
