Testing firm faces DNA investigation
Covid test provider ExpressTest is under investigation by the UK’s data privacy watchdog over plans to sell on customers’ DNA for medical research.
When booking through the company, customers were required to tick a box agreeing to a privacy policy. Hidden within the near-5,000 word policy the company states it keeps hold of data including ‘biological samples, and the DNA obtained from such samples.’
The Information Commissioner’s Office is investigating if parent company Cignpost Diagnostics was transparent over its intentions.
