Thailand’s Supreme Court upheld the 50-year prison sentence of a former Tourism Authority of Thailand governor convicted of corruption.
It upheld the 2019 Appeal Court ruling that Juthamas Siriwan, 73, must serve the sentence, along with her daughter who was sentenced to 40 years.
The court case found the mother and daughter accepted bribes from Hollywood producers for a five-year contract to run the Bangkok International Film Festival.
Film producers Gerald and Patricia Green were found guilty in the US of paying bribes in 2009.
Juthamas and daughter Jittisopha were then charged in 2015.
They were paid a total of $1.8 million by the Greens for the contract
The mother and daughter were later convicted in 2017.
