Thailand introducing tourist fee
Thailand will impose a THB300 ($9) fee per person for inbound foreign tourists starting April 1. According to government spokesman Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana, the fee will be added to air ticket prices.
Tourism Authority of Thailand governor Yuthasak Supasorn said revenue generated will go toward paying for foreign tourists’ insurance cover and sustainable tourism infrastructure projects.
Thailand expects no more than five million foreign tourists in 2022. This is just a faction of the 40 million before the pandemic.
