Thailand pushes back tourist tax launch again
Thailand has again postponed its planned tourist tax.
It won’t take effect now until at least September with the likely formation of a new government.
Tourism and Sports Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn announced the postponement.
Each foreign visitor will pay THB300 ($8).
The tourist tax was previously pushed back due to problems processing the fee through airline systems.
Airlines complained they couldn’t easily override the fee payment for exempt travellers like foreign nationals with work permits.
