Tourists are being warned as Thailand’s Petchaburi province is bracing for major flooding in the coming days, which may lead to widespread evacuations.
"Four districts could be affected. The governor and local administration are preparing sandbags and water pumps," interior minister Anupong Paochinda said.
"Operators and resort owners are aware of the situation. We will send an alert to tourists," added tourism minister Weerasak Kowsurat.
The region is about 100 miles southwest of capital Bangkok.
In 2011 Thailand suffered its worst ever flooding which claimed more than 900 lives and severely affected the economy that year.
Flooding brought on by heavy monsoon rains has caused havoc in recent weeks in Laos and Cambodia with multiple deaths recorded in both countries.
