Flight and holiday specialist The Holiday Team has taken on Andy Travis as regional sales manager for Scotland and the North East.

His was previously with bluebookonline.co.uk as key account manager, North and Scotland and before that national sales manager for Youtravel.com.

Travis also previously spent a year in a key account manager’s role with Medhotels.com.

The appointment is a key position in the company’s new sales team which is expanding as the business targets growth in the mainstream travel market.

He will be responsible for developing a new business strategy and working with key agents to promote The Holiday Team brand and service and secure new commercial deals.

Consultant director Maria Whiteman said: “Andy is very experienced and well known in the region. He’ll be talking to travel retailers with a view to securing new partners.

“As well as having the most competitive flight prices in the market one of our main selling points is pre and post departure service both on and offline.

“With Gold Medal now under Thomas Cook ownership and with Travel 2 undergoing a restructure as part of the integration of Stella UK businesses, we see a very clear opportunity in the market to grow our business through lasting partnerships.”

Travis said: “The Holiday Team brand is gaining momentum and has a great deal of potential in the current climate.

“There is no doubt that the technology for flight booking is superior to the direct competition and that’s very welcome news for a lot of agents.”

The Holiday Team is owned by Southall Travel, which employs more than 700 staff globally across the leisure, wholesaling and business travel sectors.
