The theme park industry’s largest trade association is relocating to be closer to the action in the world’s theme park capital.
The International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions is relocating from the Washington DC area to Orlando, a move which will allow it to connect easier with members of the industry in Central Florida.
The move from Alexandria, Virginia will take place in 2017.
"I cannot think of a better place to build our future than in Orlando, the theme park and attractions capital of the world," said IAAPA chairman John McReynolds, who is also senior vice president of external affairs for Universal Parks and Resorts.
"Our new headquarters will become a global gathering place where industry leaders will connect to conduct business, learn from each other, address challenges."
IAAPA has also pledged to continue hosting its IAAPA Attractions Expo at the Orange County Convention Center.
It has added another five years to 2030 beyond its original agreement to host the event through 2025.
The association says Expo is worth more than $50 million a year in economic impact to the Orange County area.
The week-long annual Expo showcases new attractions and innovations in the industry and attracts theme park executives from around the world.
