Thomson announces a child will name next Dreamliner

Tuesday, 21 Oct, 2016 0

Thomson Airways’ has revealed the name of its next Boeing 787 will be chosen by a child.

The airline’s latest #nameourplane competition will only be open to four to 11-year-olds, it said.

To enter the #nameourplane competition, the child’s guardian must visit nameourplane.com and submit a 30-second video of the child answering two questions:

* What would you call an extra comfy, extra-long plane?
* How would you make a plane better for kids?

Thomson has already carried out its own survey of children to find their main gripes when flying, with being stuck in their seat, being bored and their ears hurting topping the list.

More than 40% wanted unlimited chocolate and sweets or free toys while one in 10 said they would love the cabin crew to wear fancy dress.

Grander ideas included a slide, a swimming pool, a football pitch or skate park on the plane.

The #nameourplane competition is open until November 7.
