The European Commission has lifted its ban on three more Indonesian carriers which are now able to apply for long haul routes to Europe.
The regulatory arm of the EU updated its Air Safety List with the removal of Citilink, Lion Air and Batik Air from the blacklist.
"I am delighted that three airlines certified in Indonesia are cleared from the list," said Vincent Guerend, EU Ambassador to Indonesia and Brunei.
There are still major issues in Indonesian aviation, but Guerend said it will benefit EU and Indonesia relations to increase tourism, trade and investment.
However none of the airlines have immrdiate plans to launch long haul flights to Europe.
The EU has steadily been taking Indonesian carriers off the blacklist in recent years.
National flag carrier Garuda was removed in 2009, followed by Indonesia AirAsia in 2010.
There are still about 200 airlines worldwide banned from flying to Europe due to lax safety oversight or security concerns.
