Tourism Resilience Forum a resounding success
SYDNEY – More than 80 senior travel industry leaders attended the Australasian Economic Travel and Tourism Resilience Forum to discuss ways to combat the global financial crisis.
The event, held at the International College of Management Sydney and sponsored by e-Travel Blackboard, TravelMole and Southern Cross University heard speakers describe the coming year as bleak for the tourism industry, but urged businesses to be optimistic and not to subscribe to the doom and gloom theory.
Executives from major airlines, cruise lines and hotels all agreed that while they will struggle with low yields, the consumer will benefit greatly from lower fares and cheaper room rates.
But they warned against discounting, saying it would be better to value add instead.
