Travelport names new GDS management team
Travelport has unveiled the management team for its newly integrated Galileo and Worldspan GDS business.
Gordon Wilson will head the GDS business as president and CEO, with a new senior management team of executives from both Galileo and Worldspan.
Galileo chief financial officer Philip Emery will take up the same role in the new business, based in Langley.
Worldspan CFO Kevin Mooney will become chief commercial officer, based in Atlanta.
Sue Powers, Worldspan chief information officer, will become CIO of the new GDS business.
Galileo CIO Keith Woodcock will become senior vice-president, new business incubation, based in Denver.
Worldspan chief technology officer Dave Lauderdale will keep the role under the new regime, based in Atlanta.
Galileo general counsel Tad Ostrowski will stay in the position, heading up the legal function for the integrated GDS business.
Galileo senior vice-president human resources Lee Golding will head up HR for the new group, based in Langley.
Bob Coggin, who joined Cendant in 2002 and was vice chairman of Galileo and vice chairman of Travelport Airline Services, will be vice-chairman for Travelport GDS, based in Atlanta.
Based in Langley, but operating across 145 countries, Travelport’s GDS business comprises the Galileo and Worldspan businesses; Shepherd Systems, (which provides business and marketing intelligence to the travel industry); aiRES (the next generation server based internal airline IT product suite); and THOR, (distribution and marketing services to travel-related companies).
Wilson said: “The completion of Travelport’s acquisition of Worldspan is a hugely exciting moment for the GDS sector and a milestone for the travel industry as a whole.
“Both Galileo and Worldspan have achieved a great deal individually, and I am delighted to bring together the two teams quickly so that we can maintain that momentum. Travelport GDS is strongly committed to reshaping the industry as the world’s leading provider of informed travel choice.”
