It was the end of an era as the iconic Tropicana Las Vegas bid farewell in typical Sin City style.
After a 22-second-long implosion, the Tropicana disappeared from the Vegas skyline and makes way for the A’s new ballpark and a Bally’s Corp resort destination.
“Bally’s is honored to have been part of this historic moment, bidding farewell to the iconic Tropicana,” said Soo Kim, chairman of Bally’s Corporation.
“As we celebrate its legacy, we look ahead to building a world-class entertainment resort, the future home of the Athletics, and reinforcing Las Vegas as the ultimate sports and entertainment capital.”
The Tropicana was the last remaining casino of its era on the Las Vegas Strip.
The implosion saw the Tropicana and its two towers fall thanks to thousands of pounds of explosives.
The implosion was preceded by a 555-drone and fireworks display, created by Fireworks by Grucci.
The Tropicana Las Vegas opened in 1957, earning the moniker “The Tiffany of the Strip” thanks to its elegant style.
It had the largest casino in Las Vegas at the time of its opening, and remained an iconic fixture on the Strip.
