Twenty-two passengers and two crew members were hurt and taken to hospital after a JetBlue flight was rocked by severe turbulence.
Flight 429, which departed Boston for Sacramento, was diverted and landed safely at Rapid City in South Dakota late Thursday.
The 24 passengers and crew were taken to a local hospital for evaluation, JetBlue said.
A replacement jet flew the remaining passengers to Sacramento, which suggests some damage may have been caused to the original plane.
This has been backed up by passenger Christopher de Cries, who posted on Twitter: "There was a section of the ceiling panel in the cabin which was damaged and the floor was a mess."
There has been no word yet from JetBlue on the condition of the passengers and crew injured.
