Uber president steps down

Tuesday, 21 March 20173 min read
Ride sharing platform Uber is facing more boardroom upheaval with two top executives on their way out.
President Jeff Jones, who only joined six months ago, is standing down, and will be swiftly followed by Brian McClendon, the vice president of maps and business platform.
Announcing his departure, Jones took a swipe at the company’s leadership culture.
"The beliefs and approach to leadership that have guided my career are inconsistent with what I saw and experienced at Uber, and I can no longer continue as president of the ride sharing business," Jones said via tech news site Recode.
"After we announced our intention to hire a COO, Jeff came to the tough decision that he doesn’t see his future at Uber," Uber CEO Travis Kalanick said.
Meanwhile McClendon will depart at the end of the month citing interest in a political career in his native Kansas.
The departures are just the latest in a string of changes at the top and seemingly endless missteps surrounding its company culture and conduct of some executives.
Kalanick himself said he is seeking ‘leadership help.’
