United Airlines adding larger overhead bins - TravelMole

United Airlines adding larger overhead bins

Wednesday, 29 Oct, 2019 0

United Airlines is hoping to end the passenger scramble for priceless overhead baggage space.

The airline plans to add larger overhead bins on most of its planes.

It says the larger overhead bins will ensure there is enough room for one bag per passenger on domestic flights and about 65 extra carry-on bags will fit into the newly enlarged bin space on its 737-900 jets.

This will ease the overall travel experience by reducing stress and potential flare-ups with other passengers.

It should also reduce the need to check bags in at the gate and speed up boarding, said Toby Enqvist, United’s senior vice president and chief customer officer.

United will start adding the larger overhead bins next year and expects to have them  on 80% of its mainline fleet by 2023.
