Vacation.com positive on 2014 prospects
Travel services marketing organization Vacation.com is bullish about prospects for 2014 after releasing findings of its annual survey of member agents.
The survey, conducted in November and December last year, found that 85% of its members were positive about business for 2014, and 83% said bookings for 2014 were higher compared to the same period a year ago.
Just under half of group members polled also said that bookings for luxury travel were also ahead of last year.
Vacation.com has a network of members at over 5,000 agency locations.
Vacation.com members said Las Vegas, Orlando, Maui, New York City and Honolulu are the hotspots so far for 2014, based on booking volume and response from customers.
Top emerging destinations this year will include Vietnam, New Zealand, Croatia and Brazil according to the survey.
Announcing the results of the poll, Vacation.com president John Lovell has seen a visible resurgence in the cruise market.
"The first-time cruiser appears to be entering the market and we’ve seen strong bookings for January and February in the leisure market overall," he said
According to Lovell, the premium cruise market should grow by 10% year on year and all-inclusive resort sales are also doing well.
