Vegas coming to Mississippi?

Saturday, 19 Apr, 2006 0

Harrah’s Entertainment announced plans to acquire an 18-acre parcel near its hotel-casino in Biloxi, Miss., to develop a Las Vegas-style resort on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

The Biloxi parcel is now the site of Pinnacle’s Casino Magic, just east of Harrah’s Grand Casino.

Harrah’s announced plans to reopen the casino this summer with a 500-room hotel and 16,000 square feet of spa space. Meeting facilities will be added later.

“The site we are acquiring from Pinnacle will give us an even larger footprint in Biloxi and give us greater flexibility in creating a compelling entertainment experience,” said Anthony Sanfilippo, president of Harrah’s central division

Harrah’s Grand Casino and several others were severely damaged by Hurricane Katrina.
