Vietnam’s Bamboo Airways planning to launch Melbourne flights
Bamboo Airways is planning to spread its wings to Australia next year.
It is eyeing scheduled flights from Hanoi to Melbourne starting in the middle of 2021.
It plans to deploy Dreamliner aircraft on the route.
It unveiled tentative plans after operating a repatriation charter flight between the two cities at the weekend.
Nguyen Ngoc Trong, deputy CEO of Bamboo Airways, said Australia is a key tourism market for Vietnam.
"We are aiming to develop a regular direct route into operation in 2021."
It would ‘open up critical trade, leisure and business opportunities for Victoria,’ said Melbourne Airport’s Chief of Aviation, Shane O’Hare.
The airline launched last year and quickly grew to offer 40 domestic and international routes before the pandemic disrupted air travel.
It will continue offering repatriation flights until the end of the year as needed from South Korea, Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, and mainland China.
