Virgin America says it will operate seasonal nonstop flights between Las Vegas and Boston from January.
Beginning January 8, frequency will be four times a week through April 28.
This is a new route for Virgin which has been eyeing Western cities beyond its traditional hubs at Los Angeles and San Francisco.
In addition, the carrier has announced a new seasonal daily nonstop service between New York JFK and Fort Lauderdale.
"As the colder months approach, many of our guests – in the Northeastern US especially – are already planning their winter getaways, so we’re pleased to offer a breath of fresh airline on these seasonal routes," said John MacLeod, Virgin America’s SVP of planning and sales.
"This is the first time Virgin America has offered nonstop flights between Fort Lauderdale and New York as well as Las Vegas and Boston."
To free up aircraft for these new routes, Virgin America will drop two daily nonstop flights between Chicago and San Francisco and one on the Chicago-Los Angeles route.
Later this month Virgin begins service from Dallas Love Field to New York LaGuardia and Washington National, when the Wright Amendment restrictions at Dallas’ second airport are lifted.
