WestJet worker charged with big travel credit fraud

A former WestJet worker has been charged with fraudulently issuing travel credits worth about $250,000.
Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT) charged Terance Gough, aged 43, with fraud and theft relating to offenses between 2012 and 2015.
It is alleged the travel credits were sold on to a third party.
It follows a joint operation between Alberta police and WestJet corporate security following an audit at the airline.
WestJet said no one else appears to be involved at the airline and no customers were affected.
Mike Tucker, spokesperson for ALERT said other parties who handled the travel credits could be charged.
"The aspects of how he was conducting business and trading and selling these travel credits is still under review," he said.
"Theoretically, if they knew these travel credits that they were acquiring were stolen, criminal charges certainly could be warranted."
Gough faces one count of fraud, and one of theft over $5,000.
