There has been a buzz of activity in the Finger Lakes, NY in recent months, with a host of new lodging options, bars, restaurants and attractions.

Find out what’s new in 2025:

In the Syracuse area, plans are underway for a new hotel, the Skaneateles Lodge. The project is projected to be completed in mid-2025 with 88 guest rooms, on-site spa and several pools.

Syracuse will also feature new restaurants in the coming year. Don’t miss 809 Lounge and Restaurant for unique Caribbean cuisine and one of the largest rum selections in the city. Dog-lovers will enjoy Crooked Cattle, a new dog-friendly bar and sandwich restaurant.

In the town of Geneseo, the historic Big Tree Inn is set to reopen in 2025 under new owners. The ‘new’ old favorite will feature a historic restaurant and tavern, along with new event space.

As of 2024, a new frozen treat expedition can now be taken in the Finger Lakes. Cortland County Ice Cream Trail guides ice cream fans to 11 ice cream parlors for an immersive experience into the ice cream culture of Cortland.

Visit Finger Lakes is currently developing a Virtual Museum, a new experience to explore Ontario County, home to small cities like Canandaigua and Geneva. Visitors will discover historic markers which include blue signs, plaques or statues commemorating significant historical happenings in the area including some instrumental to the women’s rights movement.

Through the creation of a new program integrating augmented reality tech, visitors will be able to stop by the historical markers and a narrator will appear to tell stories expanding on the markers in the county. The new offering is scheduled to launch in early 2025.

Often mentioned on many beverage excursions to the region, the Finger Lakes Cider House in Interlaken is planning to open a new cabin to rent on-site to join their two rental properties already available.

The The Luxe Hotel and Woody’s Bar in Waterloo, NY underwent a more than $2 million renovation and reopened to the public late in 2024. The months of renovations and rebranding of the hotel celebrated their ribbon cutting with property tours.

Foodies will find more reasons to visit Rochester, the third largest city in New York State, in the year ahead. New restaurants opening include Bonnie & Clyde, located in a former art deco bank building by restauranteurs Greg & Jodi Johnson (The Cub Room), the recently opened downtown steakhouse Patron Saint, and the Mercantile on Main, Rochester’s first food hall located within a former department store. Also, Shell Restaurant, the brainchild of in-demand local chef Cruz Nieves, will open in downtown Rochester later this year.
