Winter storms decimate flight schedules
Huge swathes of the US are under winter weather alerts with hundreds more flights cancelled.
At least 700 flights were grounded for today, following 1,700 cancelled flights on Wednesday.
About 1,000 flights are delayed today.
Delta Air Lines, United, JetBlue, Alaska Air and Southwest Airlines issued waivers.
More than 850,000 homes are without power in Michigan, while up to 40 inches of snow fell in parts of southern Wyoming.
Wisconsin, Minnesota, Nebraska and the Dakotas have all received heavy snow storms since earlier this week.
Even California’s arid Los Angeles and Ventura Counties are under blizzard warnings from Friday.
“Heavy rain, snow, wind, and cold temperatures are likely,” in the west, the National Weather Service tweeted.
Overall, there are around 60 million people under various winter weather alerts.
