Work starts on BA's Dreamliner

Construction has started on British Airways’ first Boeing 787 Dreamliner, due to join its fleet in May.

BA has ordered 24 Dreamliners and 12 Airbus A380 Superjumbos and says the new aircraft will bring new destinations to be announced next year

Last year, BA completed the latest phase of a multi-million pound redevelopment of its Heathrow engineering base to prepare for the arrival of the new fleet.

It is set to be the first airline in Europe to operate both the Dreamliner and the A380.

BA chief executive Keith Williams said: "These revolutionary aircraft form part of a £5bn investment by BA in new aircraft, smarter cabins, elegant lounges, and new technologies to make life more comfortable in the air – and on the ground."
