A Clinton and a Bush to speak at GBTA convention
It’s a first lady double-header at the the Global Business Travel Association Convention in San Diego in August.
GBTA last week announced that former First Lady Laura Bush would be a luncheon speaker. Then it topped that yesterday by announcing that Hillary Clinton will be the keynote.
It’s also a travel-industry double-header summer for Hillary Rodham Clinton, who will be keynote speaker at both the GBTA and the American Society of Travel Agents conventions.
Mrs. Clinton is the former U.S. Secretary of State and senator from New York, and a continually-mentioned possible presidential candidate, though just today her husband asked the press to stop referring to her in that way.
GBTA executive director Michael W. McCormick noted that Clinton was the most traveled Secretary of State, visiting more than 112 countries "and in doing so, demonstrating the key role that travel plays in diplomacy, government, and business."
Her husband, President Bill Clinton, spoke at the 2012 GBTA convention.
With nearly 7,000 attendees, the GBTA Convention is the largest annual gathering of business travel and meetings managers, meeting planners, procurement professionals and suppliers anywhere in the world.
It will be held August 4-7. Attendees registering by May 31 get a $300 discount off the standard rate of $1495.
Active travel buyers from outside the US can apply for the Mike Kabo Scholarship program,
which covers registration and hotel costs.
Applications are due by June 1.
