AHLA: Half a million hotel jobs will not return this year
A new American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) report shows an idustrry uptick but a real recovery is still a long way off. AHLA estimates nearly 500,000 hotel jobs cut during the pandemic won’t return by the year’s end.
AHLA also expects room revenues to be down $44 billion this year compared to 2019. The trade group has called for targeted relief for hotel workers and small hospitality businesses. The road to recovery will be ‘long and uneven’ it says.
